Pebble Beach has invited The National Museum of Transportation to send our Di Dia automobile to be a featured car in its exclusive 2017 Concours d’Elegance, American Dream Cars of the 1960’s. The Bobby Darin “Dream Car” is a one-of-a-kind custom car designed by Detroit clothing designer Andy Di Dia in 1953 and completed in 1960. Bobby Darin fulfilled his promise to purchase the car if he ever became famous, which he of course did. Subsequently, Mr. Darin chose to donate the masterpiece to our museum. The Di Dia 150 was the most expensive custom car in the world at the time.

The Dream Car will be away from the museum from August 11th through August 24th, 2017, to participate in this Pebble Beach world-class event. You may visit the Di Dia until August 10th at the museum before its road trip to California. Our Bobby Darin car will return to The National Museum of Transportation August 25th.

Every August, 200 of the most prized collector cars in the world roll onto the famous 18th fairway of Pebble Beach Golf Links. The Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance has grown into the top-ranking collector car competition in the world.

The Concours is a contest of elegance, not speed. To give you an idea of the importance of the Pebble Beach invitation to the Concours d’Elegance, the venue has been labeled, “The number one event of its type in the world,” by the Financial Times.
